The Moving Jobs That Drive People Mad
Moving jobs are unavoidable. Whether it’s tasks we have to do before we move in or afterwards, our lists will be as long as our arms. Some of these jobs are not especially glamorous, but they have to be done.
And knowing we’ll be able to kick back and relax afterwards should make it all worth it. A recent survey published by the broadband supplier Hyperoptic asked 2,000 people which moving jobs they hate the most.
Here are some of the answers they gave as we find out what tasks cause home movers the most frustration.
Before you even set foot in your new home, there’s a lot to sort out. It means endless phone calls to utilities firms, redirecting post and getting the internet set up. It’s hardly a surprise that all of these jobs annoy us and that nearly a third of us want the Wi-Fi to be working on arrival. Otherwise, we run the risk of using up all our mobile data and running up a hefty bill.
Dealing with boxes
Without boxes, moving house would be very difficult and impractical. According to the survey, people hate spending a lot of time packing and lifting boxes. And then when they move in, there’s also the issue of finding items within boxes including the ‘basics’. Luckily, CBS Removals will take the pain out of packing, lifting and loading to avoid any such issues.
Sorting out damage
The landlord and letting agent should make sure your property is ready to be moved into. But people still find issues when they’re filling out their inventory. According to the survey, issues such as unexpected holes and damage to walls annoy us. Especially when they weren’t caused by the people moving in. This means several phone calls to agents and landlords to sort it out.
A letting agent might insist that you arrange an end of tenancy clean, but they have to specifically request it from an outgoing tenant. But in some cases, we might have to clean our old home ourselves before we move out. And this annoys movers. Our new home should also be spotless on arrival, but sometimes we might need to give it a little extra TLC.
Finding our bearings
One of the most important jobs movers should do is make sure they know where everything is in the house. But we get frustrated when we can’t find light switches, boilers and electrics. It means potentially opening everything in sight to try and find them. But if you know where your bedroom is, it means you can get a good night’s sleep before looking for them.
And if you want a house move that’s stress-free, professionally managed and perfectly carried out, call on us.
The CBS Removals team can also help with packing and loading items onto our vans. We’ll even give you a call a few weeks after the move to make sure you’re settling in okay.
