The Hottest Locations For New Beginnings
New beginnings have become increasingly popular during the pandemic and relocations and long distance moves are now a trend. The lockdowns and ‘stay at home’ orders have forced many of us to reassess what we really want and what best suits their new lifestyle.
One of the most common reasons for escaping the city or moving is working arrangements. And some of us don’t feel safe in cities anymore, want to be nearer friends and family or want more open space.
Removal vans are regularly spotted in many locations and here are some of the most popular new beginnings destinations people are moving to:
Cornwall
With features such as stunning beaches and surfing opportunities, it’s not a surprise that people are moving to Cornwall for a fresh start. Remote working means there is less need for workers to live in cities. As one mover put it: “We want to be able to open our front door and be on an empty clifftop or beach within minutes”. There surely won’t be too many people who will say that moving to Cornwall was a mistake.
Suffolk
Ipswich is one of the oldest towns in the United Kingdom. And it is one of the most searched for destinations when it comes to finding rural locations to live. One couple have got so fed up of London that they’re moving to a market town in the county. They’ll be swapping their city flat for a three-bedroom house with a garden. Suffolk is not short of rural options and quiet places to live. And for some, it will represent the start of something new.
Norfolk
Suffolk’s so-called rival East Anglian county is also proving to be popular, especially with Londoners. As far as back as July 2020, interest in properties in Norfolk went sky-high. This was triggered in part by the re-opening of estate agents two months earlier. Much like the county it immediately borders, Norfolk is full of countryside, coastlines and family attractions. Norwich, Wells-next-the-Sea, Great Yarmouth and Cromer are all jewels in the crown.
Essex
For some people, the only way is Essex. The opportunity to reduce monthly outgoings and have more outdoor space has been too good to miss for some of us. Commuter towns are in demand including Saffron Walden, which is convenient for Cambridge and Stansted Airport and is not short of attractions. Other popular destinations include Mersea Island, Dedham Vale and Leigh-on-Sea. Unsurprisingly, many of us are leaving London behind for a new life in Essex.
